Upload and manage files
The following instructions are for the default method to upload files using the repository web interface. If you have a dataset with large or numerous files or have difficulty successfully uploading files to your dataset, please review the Additional Information about Uploading Files page for alternative methods.
Upload Files via the Web Interface
Click on the dataset name you would like to upload files. Click on the Upload Files button.
Click the Select Files to Add button to search for a file from your hard drive, or drag and drop the file from the file explorer window.
Edit the file name, create a file path, add a file description, and add File Tags during file upload. You can also edit file metadata after upload.
Add basic file metadata during upload.Dataverse will add it to the list of files in your dataset as you select each file.
Click Save Changes.
If any of your uploaded files are tabular files, you will see a message indicating that the tabular files are being processed and converted to the archival format. When the conversion is complete, the file unlocks, and you can view its contents.
You can edit metadata by clicking Edit Dataset → Metadata.
You can edit datasets by selecting a dataset and clicking Add+Edit Metadata in the Metadata tab.
Add new files by clicking Edit Dataset → Files (Upload) or from the Upload Files in the Files tab.
You may restrict access to your datasets as well.
